COMMUNITY

COMMUNITY

Restaraunt week in Spikeri Quarter

What is the community like?

A community-oriented atmosphere in Spikeri Quarer has the power to transform the whole neighborhood in Moscow-District. People that live in the neighborhood prefer to live their life as used to, however changes are slowly coming.  An energetic and artistic atmosphere enters the neighborhoods, though can it also help with revitalising the whole neighborhood?

This is a home to a broad range of residents (Latvians and descendants of Russians, Ukrainians, Polish, Jewish and others) which makes the neighborhood a multicultural place.

Is it easy to fit in the community?

After visiting the neighborhood Urban Treetops team concluded that it is one of most beautiful and untouched areas in Riga. Of course, the neighborhood has problems regarding the degradation of certain zones, old buildings and infrastructure but in general the feeling of huge potential didn't leave us. At beginning it can be difficult to include and be a part of the community in Moscow-District. But only by trying to include we can improve the quality of life in the neighborhood.

We believe that Moscow-District can be one of the coolest neighborhoods to live in, though how can it be cool with out people? So please visit this neighborhood and you will be surprised about architecture and diversity!

"We were stunned about Moscow-Distrcit because it felt like we went back in time" !

" The Spikeri Quarter was created in the second half of the 19th century, when the territory was covered with uniform warehouses. The amazing red brick buildings are ~ 150 years old and they were designed by best architects of that time: Karl Felsko, Friedrich Hess, Robert Pflug, Reinhold Schmaeling, and Jānis Baumanis.
